Genillon, as people call him, is a traditional French butcher. Working with passion, he provided the best meat we could find in Villars les Dombes.

Sadly, the traditional craft of the butcher is vanishing across France. The work is hard, the skill level required is high and the pay is relatively low. No wonder traditional butchers are opting for the easier, more secure life offered by the supermarkets that have been putting their small businesses out of business.

But Genillon´s story is a happier one - for both him and his customers. When he decided to return to his own home town, he fortunately managed to sell the business to an employee, who was dedicated to maintaining the same high standards of the only traditional butchery that now remains in Villars les Dombes.
